We are so fortunate to have someone as experienced as <\/em>Reece Adams<\/em><\/a> on our team and we are extremely excited that he will be presenting \u201cImpacts of Occupational Deprivation: Reducing the Trauma\u201d which is such an important topic.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Occupational deprivation is \u201ca state of preclusion from engagement in occupations of necessity and\/or meaning due to factors that stand outside the immediate control of the individual\u201d (Whiteford, 2010).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n With the holiday period approaching, many clients are finishing up at school, programs close temporarily, and their usual routines are paused, creating risk of inactivity and increase in <\/em>behaviours of concern<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n This can have a negative impact on individuals and their families or supports. The association between occupational deprivation and behaviours of concern is known and <\/em>Occupational Therapy<\/em><\/a> can play a positive role to help prevent this.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In this session Reece will explore and discuss the factors and impacts of Occupational Deprivation and the practice considerations.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Understand Occupational Deprivation and its importance<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Outcomes and practice implications<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Practice considerations and support<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n This event is part of our series of professional development opportunities at <\/em>Hearth<\/em><\/a>, bringing together clinicians and leaders in the field.
